Phil "The Power" Taylor long ago conquered the world of darts. These days he's helping darts try to conquer the world.
"It's exciting," said the 55-year-old yesterday. "It's just grown and grown. At my age you don't get excited much any more but I am. I've been away from home now for four weeks and I've loved every moment of it."

The 16-time world champion has arrived for the Hong Kong Darts Masters, to be staged at night on Friday and Saturday under the Hong Kong Observation Wheel. It is an event organisers hope will lead to the city next year hosting a leg of the sport's annual World Series.

"I'd love for it to come here," said Taylor. "The lights, the colour, the people. I love it. Most people who come this weekend will know about darts. They will be knowledgeable."
The Englishman - who has amassed a staggering 200-odd professional titles across his 28-year career - was among those responsible for the formation in 1992 of the Professional Darts Corporation which went on to launch the World Series in 2013 to further the game's international reach and marketing potential.

The World Series now takes in legs in Dubai, Japan, Australia and New Zealand before heading to Glasgow for November's finals. The buzz he gets from the game has never been greater, something he puts down to the fact he knows his career is coming to and end.
"You do appreciate it more. As you get older you know it's going to come to an end. That's the part that's tugging at me a little bit."
Taylor is one of eight players featuring across the weekend, alongside five-time world champ Raymond Van Barneveld, two-time World Masters winner Stephen Bunting, 2012 World Championship finalist Andy Hamilton and 2012 European Championship finalist Wes Newton. The local challenge is led by the World Cup pairing of Scott Mackenzie and Royden Lam along with Isen Veljic.
And Taylor's parting shot: "I've still got it. Don't worry."
