Top-ranked amateur Matthew Cheung Hung-hai will lead a six-strong Hong Kong challenge at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) at Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club from October 1-4.

Cheung will be joined by Leon Philip D'Souza, Michael Regan Wong, Shinichi Mizuno, Motin Yeung and Oliver Roberts at the prestigious event, which comes to Hong Kong for the first time.

The winner receives an invitation to the Masters at Augusta and, along with the runner-up, gains entry to the qualifying series for the British Open championship. Cheung debuted impressively at the ACC last year in Melbourne, where he tied for 45th.

A student at Oklahoma City University in the United States, the 19-year-old recently collected Academic All-America honours.

D'Souza and Wong are the standouts on Hong Kong's junior circuit, and Nos 1 and 2 on the Hong Kong Golf Association's 2015 Junior Order of Merit, respectively. "This is a really exciting opportunity for me," D'Souza said.
