Hong Kong Swimming fear they may have to dump World Cup leg despite this year's success
Clash of dates with two other major water competitions - 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup in Repulse Bay and the Cross Harbour Race - could force organisers to cancel next year's event

Scheduling headaches mean Hong Kong is unlikely to stage a leg of the World Cup swimming series next year despite the success of the second staging of the event at Victoria Park last month.
World-class swimmers such as Missy Franklin, Katinka Hosszu, Cameron van der Burgh, Emily Seebohm and Cate Campbell turned out during the two-day event and treated the crowds to a dazzling display, while Hong Kong swimmer Geoffery Cheah also provided a thrilling moment when he won the men's 50-metre butterfly.

The Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association has signed a four-year deal with Fina until 2017, but association president Ronnie Wong Man-chiu said they might be forced to drop the competition in 2016, their third event under the contract.
We are still in discussions with Fina and if a solution on the event date cannot be sorted out, we have no choice but forget about next year
Wong said Fina had proposed to stage the 2016 Hong Kong event on October 12 and 13.
"However, on October 15, the association will host another international event, the 2016 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup in Repulse Bay, which has been confirmed on the Fina calendar," said Wong.

"To make things more complicated, we have already scheduled the annual cross-harbour race, the biggest mass-participation competition on the domestic calendar, on October 16.
