Hong Kong badminton coach Tim He Yiming has challenged Wei Nan to make a major breakthrough in his world ranking and qualify for next year's Rio Olympics.

At 31, the Hong Kong star is enjoying his best run on the world tour and is currently 15th - his highest ranking thanks partly to his exploits at last week's Denmark Open.

In Odense, Wei defeated former world number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia to reach the quarter-finals before he was stopped by defending champion Chen Long of China.

A bronze medallist at the Incheon Asian Games last year, Wei also made it to the last eight of September's world championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
