Newly elected Olympic Committee and Sports Federation vice-president Kenneth Fok Kai-kong says he has no plan to unseat his father for sport’s top job in Hong Kong – at least in the near future.

Kenneth, a deputy honorary secretary of the organisation for the last seven years and eldest son of committee president Timothy Fok Tsun-ting, became one of eight vice-presidents at the annual meeting on Tuesday.

There was no opposition to their nomination, although they were still required to win a simple majority of attending council members. The other vice-presidents were re-elected unopposed.

“I was just elected one of the vice presidents … and we have to do things step by step,” said Kenneth Fok, 37.

“I have no plan to replace my father. In the least, there is no any time frame at all.

“In fact, there is no such thing of who can replace who in the organisation. At the end of the day, it’s the council members who have the voting right to elect the best person for the job.
