My fitness will carry me through, says Hong Kong's Rex Tso ahead of Young Gil-bae fight
The 'Wonder Kid' has returned from a month’s training in Cebu confident he will last the distance if it comes down to it for Saturday’s super flyweight showdown
Unbeaten “Wonder Kid” Rex Tso Sing-yu has expressed confidence he will last the distance if it all comes down to a final-round flurry against South Korean veteran Young Gil-bae in Saturday’s “Clash of Champions”.
I’m pretty sure my fitness will carry me through. We sparred 12 rounders last week and I came out of it pretty well
Tso had been wary that the 12-round contest will turn into an endurance battle at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, but fresh from a one month’s training camp in Cebu, his confidence has soared.
“I’m pretty sure my fitness will carry me through,” said Tso, who is looking to extend his unblemished record to 19-0 and pave the way towards a possible world title fight in December.
“I haven’t gone to 12 rounds in a fight before and I need to do everything in my power to make sure I am ready if it really boils down to it.
"Training in the heat and humidity in Cebu [the Philippines] was tortuous but I survived it and it was really good for me because I sparred against many good fighters from different weight classes. We sparred 12 rounders last week and I came out of it pretty well.

“But Young must be ready as well and he has a lot of experience, so we have to be wary of him.”
