Having observed around 90 triallists over two sessions last week, Hong Kong Football Club manager Richard Ewart must now decide who will make the cut to challenge for a place in squad for the new Hong Kong Premier League season.
Seeking around six new players to add to the squad which finished second in the First Division last season, Ewart cast his eye of sessions on Friday and Sunday last week and will now select 22 hopefuls who will face the club’s first team in an internal trial match on Sunday before deciding who will continue for the remainder of the preseason.
“The standard of the triallists was good and the positions that they occupy are consistent with the requirements of the team,” said Ewart, with Hong Kong Football Club embarking on their first season back in the top flight since 2010-11.

“I am optimistic that following the third trial, there will be a number who will be good enough to discuss the possibility of joining the squad for the remainder of the preseason.”

Hong Kong Football Club play their first preseason friendly against Southern, who finished fourth in the Premier League last season, on July 31 with the new season kicking off on August 28.
