HK fencer Lin Po-heung heads out of Rio – and home to her mum’s rib soup – after defeat to eventual silver-medallist
Lin bows out early on day five in Rio after defeat to reigning women’s foil Olympic champion Di Francisca
Fencer Lin Po-heung, competing in her second Olympics, bowed out early on day five in Rio, though her 15-8 defeat to the terrific reigning women’s foil Olympic champion, Italian Elisa di Francisca, was no great surprise.

The Italian was in control after a tight first period she edged 4-3 and only gave Lin one touch in the second as she stretched her lead to 12-4.
Lin said the Rio Games was likely to be her last Olympics and she did better than four years ago in London.
She said she tried her best to pull off a miracle but Di Francisca simply had better skills and experience.
The Italian was dethroned in the final though, losing 12-11 to Russian Inna Deriglazova
