Hong Kong thrashed in Jordan as coach Kim gives youngsters a shot ahead of Asian Cup campaign
Young stars fail to shine as Hong Kong fall to heavy defeat in Amman
Coach Kim Pan-gon gave opportunities to some of the younger members of his squad, starting four home-grown youngsters in his matchday 11, coupled with five naturalised players but they were well beaten by an impressive Jordan side, who topped the world rankings of all participating Asian Cup nations when the third round qualifying draw was made in January.
The home side scored twice in both halves to sew up the friendly encounter.
The disappointing result gives coach Kim a lot to ponder as they prepare to meet another Middle East side Lebanon five days from now in their opening match of the qualifying campaign.
A poor result there will have a big impact on their qualification hopes in a group which also features North Korea and Malaysia.
