Battling Tiffany Chan fails to fire as Hong Kong Ladies Open title challenge fades at Fanling
Defending champion bounces back from three early bogeys at Hong Kong Golf Club’s Old Course, but still sits five shots off the pace

Tiffany Chan Tsz-ching’s EFG Hong Kong Ladies Open title challenge faded on Sunday as the defending champion played her opening nine holes at Hong Kong Golf Club in a battling level par to sit five shots off the pace.
Chan dropped three shots over the first four holes of her third and final round over the Old Course at Fanling, only to bounce back admirably with two consecutive birdies and a further gain on the ninth green.
But despite overnight leaders, Supamas Sangchan of Thailand and Taiwan’s Yu Pei-lin, dropping shots at the start of their rounds, Chan faces an uphill task to retain her title.
Chan is already guaranteed to earn the first prize money cheque of her professional career, having left the amateur ranks last month, before heading to Illinois for her first event on the second-tier Symetra Tour in the US at the Decatur-Forsyth Classic next week.

Chan overturned a two shot final round deficit last year before eventually beating Thailand’s Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul on the first play-off hole to claim the title.
