Hong Kong will face regional rivals Japan in the 11th place play-off at the Women’s World Cup after Jo Hull’s side lost 31-7 to Spain in Belfast.

Rose Hopewell-Fong touched down for Hong Kong with Adrienne Garvey adding a conversion at the end of the first half at Queen’s University on Tuesday.

But with Spain proving too strong with five tries of their own to seal their place in the ninth place final in the 12-team tournament, Hong Kong will face Japan on Saturday after suffering a fourth defeat of the campaign.
