Hong Kong starlet Dai Wai-tsun’s appearance on Fifa 18 makes him the first local player to feature in the series (but you might not be in a hurry to pick him)
Bury youngster appears on latest version of hugely popular series
Teen ace Dai Wai-tsun continues to break new ground after becoming the first Hong Kong player ever to feature in a Fifa video game series.
Fans will be able to use 54-rated ‘Tsun Dai’ after the hotly anticipated Fifa 18 to be released on September 29.
The Hong Kong-born defensive midfielder will also be available for purchase on Fifa Ultimate Team – the most popular game mode in which players craft their own squad. Dai’s online transfer market price has yet to be determined.
Fifa 18 will also include three Chinese players; West Bromwich Albion and Werder Bremen loanee Zhang Yuning (68 rating), Chinese/Tanzanian defender for Portuguese team Boavista Eddy Francis (63), and Werder Bremen reserve team player Tian Ci (53).
Dai, 18, recently put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with League One’s Bury after continuing to impress since his pre-season friendly debut against Championship side Sunderland.
The former captain of Barcelona Hong Kong soccer school is a dual passport holder – Hong Kong and Britain – after travelling to England as a seven-year-old in pursuit of a soccer career.
Dai has received praise from both sides, with Bury manager Lee Clark labelling him as “terrific” and Hong Kong Football Association chief executive Mark Sutcliffe looking to lure him into the national team.
Extra eager fans can pre-order the Fifa 18 Icon Edition (which features Luis Ronaldo on the cover) or the Ronaldo Edition (with Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover) which will be released three days earlier.
The game will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
