Lee Ki took top goalscoring honours with 23 points but still could not prevent Hong Kong from losing to South Korea 93-72 in the World Cup Asian basketball qualifiers on Friday at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul

It was the third straight loss for Hong Kong in group A after defeats by China and New Zealand, all but ending the city’s hope of reaching the next stage.

New Zealand beat China 82-73 to leave the group delicately poised with New Zealand, China and South Korea all having five points from three games. Hong Kong are bottom of the table with three points.

Lee, of local club Eastern, faces a hectic schedule as guard as he will fly to Taiwan, along with clubmates Adam Xu and Lau Tsz-Lai on Saturday morning to join his club at the Asean Basketball League against Formosa Dreamers on the same day.

Hong Kong will also host China in their fourth qualifying game at Southorn Stadium on Monday.
