Ng was beaten 12-21, 15-21 in a swift 45-minute encounter at the Birmingham Arena, and the 23-year-old later said he struggled to find his rhythm during the match.
“Very disappointing round 16 today,” Ng wrote on social media. “Can’t find my rhythm in the game.
“The Europe trip is finished and coming up next is the Asia Championships in late April, will come back stronger.”
Elsewhere, Chinese ace Lin Dan set up the hugely anticipated quarter-final clash against arch rival Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia after overcoming Wang Tzu-wei of Chinese Taipei 21-13, 23-21 in the last-16.
Earlier, defending champion Lee was forced to dig deep to see off Lee Dong-keun of South Korea before squeezing through 21-6, 13-21, 21-18 in one hour, four minutes.
“My first match here (against Ygor Coelho) wasn’t that great, neither was my second. Let’s see if I can turn on the heat against Lin Dan in the quarter-finals,” Lee said after his last-16 match.
Chen Long, who won gold for China at the 2016 Rio Olympics, eased through after he defeated Thailand’s Khosi Phetpradab 21-18, 21-14, while another Chinese player, Shi Yuqi made light work of South Korea’s Lee Hyun-il winning 21-11, 21-19.
