Formula E: BMW team hopes food poisoning and bad luck end at Hong Kong E-Prix
- Drivers Antonio Felix da Costa and Alexander Sims say they can do much better
- Stricken with food poisoning on Friday, Da Costa is now fine and ready to go for Sunday

The BMW I Andretti Motorsport team is hoping their string of bad luck ends on Sunday, although things aren’t looking amazing at the moment.
So far the team of Antonio Felix da Costa and Alexander Sims have one win and seven podiums this season in 49 races, a result Sims admitted could be summed up as “underachieving”.
To top it off Da Costa, who hails from Portugal and is in his fifth season of Formula E, fell ill on Friday with a bout of food poisoning. The 27-year-old said he’s fine now and will be ready for Sunday’s Hong Kong E-Prix, but it was touch and go there for a bit.
“Yeah, everything is much better now, I don’t know, I must have eaten something wrong,” said Da Costa, who is second in the individual standings. “So for 24 hours I was completely out. I guess it was food poisoning, but the team doctor came by and he helped a lot. I will be fine, no issues.”
He added he’s not sure what he ate that set off the bout of food poisoning, however is feeling back to normal after some sleep. Currently Da Costa, who won the first race of the season in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia is behind Jerome D’Ambrosio of Mahindra Racing, while Sims sits 12th.
