Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund Legends to lock horns in Hong Kong clash

A host of former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund players will participate in a legends game between the two sides at Hong Kong Stadium in June.

Uefa Champions League winners Luis Garcia and Karl-Heinz Riedle were present in Kowloon on Thursday to launch the countdown to the match, which will involve a number of former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund stars from the ’90s and 2000s.

Jamie Carragher, Steve McManaman, Jason McAteer, Patrik Berger and Vladimir Smicer were announced as participants. As was Liverpool FC ambassador, Robbie Fowler, who will captain the side at So Kon Po. Garcia also revealed that Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger and Djibril Cisse will make the journey.

On the Dortmund side will be Julio Cesar, Dede, Mladen Petric, Roman Weidenfeller, Mohamed Zidan and Jan Koller in a team that will be coached by Jorg Heinrich.

“You can be excited, it’s going to be a great game,” Garcia said. “I enjoy very much playing these kind of legends games.

“We’ve got a fantastic support in China, and we’re hoping to bring a little bit of Liverpool here.”
