Hong Kong women’s international Wai Yuen-ting may get her first taste of Uefa Champions League football after signing a contract with Albanian club Vllaznia on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder announced the deal after capping off a successful trial in a 14-0 trouncing of Maliqi in a national league match. Wai played the first half after making her European football debut against rivals Juban Danja last week .

“I should be playing until the end of the season – the contract is until then. In terms of the competition, if we win everything and become champions we will take part in the coming European competition,” Wai said.

She had to hit the ground running after arriving in the city of Shkoder, but adapted quickly.

“When I first got here there was some fear. I was by myself and came down to training the day after getting off the plane, so my body was a bit tired. When I got to the pitch, I felt different to normal.

“The more I played, the more I got into the game, maybe because I had rested enough and started getting used to the rhythm and collisions. I let go of the stresses and self-consciousness. Then everything in general went pretty smoothly.
