Hong Kong league leaders R&F caught in the middle as confusion reigns over new players signed for season’s return

Premier League leaders R&F continue to prepare for the resumption of the season in August despite saying they have been let down by the Hong Kong Football Association on the playing status of their summer signings.
Management of Guangzhou-based R&F sent a letter to fellow Hong Kong Premier League clubs last week requesting the season be abandoned after problems with new signings being allowed to play in the remainder of the competition.
They also asked for a new body to be set up to handle the Hong Kong Premier League.
“We just want to show our discontent with the way the Football Association has handled the issue,” said coach Yeung Ching-kwong. “We have been caught in the middle – they say we can use new signings for the remaining season and then we were told we can’t.
“We have already released some players and at the same time have also secured new players in preparation for the remaining season. We only need to know one thing now – whether these new players can play in August or have to wait for the next season [2020-21]. Just as simple as that.”
