Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey helped her Energy Standard team to the top of the table on day one of match nine of this season’s International Swimming League in Budapest on Monday.
The swimmer was part of the victorious 4x100m freestyle team along with Sarah Sjostrom, Pernille Blume and Femke Heemskerk. They won in 3:29.43 with Haughey the fastest in 51.59.
Energy Standard, who won the inaugural ISL last year before Haughey joined the team, had already qualified for this season’s semi-finals but turned on the style with nine wins on day one at the Duna Arena.
Those victories gave them 300.5 points for the day, ahead of the Tokyo Frog Kings in second on 235. The Iron are third on 183.5 ahead of the Toronto Titans on 155.
Haughey, who has been pegged as a potential MVP among the women, did not have it all her own way in the Hungarian capital as she missed out on a third race win of the season in the 400m freestyle.
