Hong Kong’s football chief on Friday called for unity in working towards the betterment of the sport in the city after five new members were elected to the board of directors.
At the Hong Kong Football Association’s (HKFA) first extraordinary general meeting of the year in Ho Man Tin, Yvonne Wong, Nicholas Chan Hiu-fung, Johnny Woo Wai-man (all non-club linked) and Wong Siu-kei and Hanson Wong Chun-hung (both club linked) became members of the board until 2025 after beating a rival camp led by Kitchee boss Ken Ng Kin.
Four other members keep their places on the board until the next election in 2023 when they will also elect a new president and chairman.
“We welcome these board members who are mostly new faces,” said HKFA chairman Pui Kwan-kay. “They come from diverse backgrounds and wish to contribute to Hong Kong football. I sincerely hope we can work together and that they will use their expertise to help the sport, which has come under heavy fire from the community and the government over the past couple of years.

“I also want to call for the continued support of those who were not elected this time. We also need their constructive recommendations and suggestions to help football.”
