Veteran striker Dejan Damjanovic scored his second goal in two games for Kitchee to secure the AFC Champions League scoring record outright as the Hong Kong Premier League champions lost 2-1 to Japanese side Cerezo Osaka in their Thailand bubble.

The 39-year-old opened the scoring at Buriram Stadium to bag his 38th goal in Asia’s elite competition, surpassing South Korea legend Lee Dong-gook.

The Montenegrin had drawn level with Lee in Kitchee’s win over Thailand’s Port FC in their opening group J game last week.

Fittingly, his 38th goal came on the 38th minute, slotting home after good play from Cleiton down the right wing.

However, Kitchee could not hold on to a share of the points as the J. League side hit back with a quick-fire second-half double.

They drew level through Adam Taggart on 69 minutes before Tiago put them in front two minutes later.
