The second week of the Games has started brightly for Hong Kong, and the city was watching as the women’s team took on Japan in the semi-finals of the table tennis.

Unfortunately, Doo Hoi-kem, Lee Ho-ching and Minnie Soo Wai-yam were comprehensively beaten 3-0, but the trio still have a bronze medal shot.

Elsewhere, the Philippines’ Nesthy Petecio missed out on gold in the women’s boxing featherweight final, with Japan’s Sena Irie taking the decision.
US gymnastics superstar Simone Biles also returned to acton in the final of the beam event, taking bronze with China’s Guan Chenchen and Tang Xijing earning gold and silver. There was also gold for China in the diving with Xie Siyi scoring 558.75 and fending off his 3m synchro partner – with whom he already secured the gold at Tokyo 2020 – Wang Zongyuan, who took silver with 534.90.
