Hong Kong Para rider Timothy Tsang Tin-chi is pulling out of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Para-dressage tournament because his horse, Cethegus M, was deemed lame.
The 26-year-old Tsang arrived in Tokyo alongside teammates Natasha Tse Pui-ting and Fleur Schrader last Friday ahead of their competitions in Baji Koen Equestrian Park.
Two days later, team vet Adrian Farrington made the call that Tsang’s horse was lame and would not be safe to ride, the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation confirmed.

The decision means Tse and Schrader will not be able to compete in the team dressage but they will still feature in the individual event.

Tsang, ranked 149th in the FEI Para Dressage individual world rankings, will be supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and sports psychologist Dr Anna Waters, according to the Federation.
