Now TV has confirmed it will broadcast the Formula 1 world championship until the end of the 2022 season as well as continuing to show UFC events, as part of new broadcast deals following the demise of Fox Sports Asia.

The Hong Kong Telecom-owned satellite broadcaster started showing F1 races last month after Fox Sports Asia’s channels stopped being available on Now TV on September 1.

Now TV’s first F1 race was the Dutch Grand Prix on September 5 and it has since shown the Italian Grand Prix on September 12, and the Russian Grand Prix from Sochi on September 26.

“F1 is one of the most watched sports events in Hong Kong. We are very excited to have reached a broadcast agreement with Formula 1, allowing fans to continue to enjoy this world-class racing event for the next two seasons,” said Derek Choi, Head of Pay TV at HKT in a statement.

The demise of Disney-owned Fox Sports Asia, which stopped being shown elsewhere in Southeast Asia on October 1, also saw Now TV secure rights for last month’s US Open tennis tournament and the UFC as well as F1.

Now the rights for Formula 1 have been secured for the rest of the 2021 season and the whole 2022 season. The next race on the calendar is the Turkish Grand Prix from Istanbul Park on Sunday, October 10.
