Ronnie Wong Man-chiu, honorary secretary general of the Hong Kong Olympic Committee, said they were still awaiting confirmation of the local delegation for Beijing 2022 which will be held from February 4-20.

He said that it would probably be bigger than the one the city sent to Pyeongchang, South Korea, three years ago when Arabella Ng Yili was Hong Kong’s sole representative, competing in the women’s alpine skiing.

“We have so far two skiers, one male and one female, who have met the [minimum] entry standard in skiing. A decision will be made when qualification completes in January,” said the official. “The short-track speedskating qualification will begin soon and we have a number of athletes in contention for achieving an Olympic berth through the four rounds of World Cup competitions.

“The figure skating qualification is over and unfortunately we failed to get any athletes in. We can therefore finalise the squad early next year when all the qualification competitions are completed.”
