Hong Kong Winter Olympian Adrian Yung Hau-tseun will “cherish” his Beijing Games experience for the rest of his life – but less so his runs on the Yanqing slopes.
“After the rather poor showing at the Olympics, I’m hungry to redeem myself and show Hong Kong that their faith is not misplaced,” said the 17-year-old alpine skier, who finished with DNFs in the giant slalom and slalom events last month.
“I want to bring something back for [fans] to see. To show the world that Hong Kong skiing can be up there with the top quality teams. I’ll be pushing hard to do that.”

Born in Malaysia to Hong Kong parents before enjoying a successful junior career in England, all eyes were on Yung as he went down in history as the city’s first male skier at a Winter Olympics.

The former junior British alpine champion gained an ever bigger following thanks to his entertaining post-run interviews conducted in his Oxford English-infused Cantonese, which soon became the subject of local internet memes and forums.
