It was second time lucky for Hong Kong’s Robbie Capito as he boarded a flight to play in the UK Open Pool Championship after being found to be in the clear for Covid-19.
Capito jetted off at short notice on Monday after a whirlwind few days, having been reinstated to the event he had been forced to withdraw from when he tested positive in Hong Kong.
That positive last week had come in the 12th-day test that is mandatory for all arrivals in Hong Kong, after he returned from playing in the United States. It resulted in Capito cancelling his flight to Europe that same day and pulling out of the Bucharest Open and the UK Open.

A week of enforced self-isolation followed, before another test on Monday this week cleared the 20-year-old and he was able to arrange a flight and seek a place in the UK tournament draw.

It was too late for the Bucharest Open, but the UK Open began in London on Tuesday with Capito set to play Robin Cripps of the United Kingdom after landing in the country that morning. He was hoping it would signal a change of fortune.
