World Games: Hong Kong wushu trio all win bronze medals, continuing city’s tradition of success
- Michelle Yeung, Lee Wing-yung and Yeung Chun-hei all come third in respective categories at US event
- ‘Nervous’ 19-year-old Yeung impresses at first adult competition

Hong Kong’s wushu athletes continued the city’s run of success at the World Games, winning three medals on Thursday.
Michelle Yeung, Lee Wing-yung and Yeung Chun-hei all took bronze in their respective categories at the multi-sport event in the United States.
A triple-gold medallist at the 2017 Gumi Asian Junior Wushu Championships, Yeung said before the Games that she was “nervous” competing at her first adult event.

But the 19-year-old showed few signs of that, earning 9.220 points for Gunshu and 9.360 points for Daoshu, putting her in third place with 18.580 points.
American Mia Tian, herself a former Junior Wushu Championships medallist, took gold with a combined total of 18.790 points, narrowly ahead of 17-year-old Ukrainian Alina Krysko who scored 18.666.
Lee Wing-yung, a double-bronze medallist at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, picked up Hong Kong’s second bronze. The 21-year-old scored 8.977 for Nanquan and 9.117 for Nandao for a total of 18.094 points.

The gold was won easily by China’s Zhang Yaling, who also won at the National Games last September, with a score of 19.153.
