Hong Kong table tennis pair Lam Siu-hang and Ho Kwan-kit teamed up for the first time in Doha this week and left with a silver medal in the WTT Feeder event.
With Hong Kong’s top men’s singles player Wong Chun-ting taking a break, Lam took his place to team up with Ho, and they battled their way to the final with a nail-biting victory over second-seed Chinese pair Lin Shidong and Chen Yuanyu.
“Their performance in the semi-finals win over Lin and Chen was really good, it was an extremely tough match,” Leung Chu-yan, their coach, said.
“The fact that they came back from trailing 10-8 to win 15-13 in the deciding set spoke for itself. I am sure it was some great experience and a confidence booster for Lam and Ho [going forward] as they beat a Chinese pair in adversity.”

In the final Lam and Ho had one hand on the winner’s trophy too, taking the first two sets 11-7, 11-9 against China’s Yuan Licen and Xiang Peng.
But the fifth seeds fought back, winning the next two sets 11-8, before taking the decider 11-4.
