Eastern goalkeeper Yapp Hung-fai urged football bosses to look at the pitch conditions at Tai Po Sports Ground after his side’s 2-1 win Hong Kong Premier Legaue win on Saturday.

The Hong Kong international put in a man-of-the-match display to stop Wofoo Tai Po from snatching a draw, and admitted his side had been lucky to come away with three points.

Tai Po came close to equalising on a number of occasions, including a header from Gabriel Moreira that hit the post in a scrappy finish, which Yapp blamed on the poor pitch condition that had affected the match quality.

“The pitch is so bumpy that neither side was able to display any good pass,” he said. “This is out of the control of the players but the authorities should address the problem.”

Yapp also said the was especially important after his side’s surprising 1-0 defeat by Football Club the previous week.

“The result [against Football Club] was difficult to swallow and hopefully we can bring back some confidence after such a hard-earned victory today,” he said.
