Football: Hong Kong beaten by Malaysia, lose a passport but may gain another as Germany-based striker qualifies to play
- They lose in Johor as Malaysia record their second win over Hong Kong in 10 months, yet the visitors look transformed from previous meeting
- As their search for goals continues, boss Jorn Andersen indicates Michael Udebuluzor could soon be available

Hong Kong’s footballers – those who made it on to the plane – were beaten away to Malaysia in their second friendly of the international window, but head coach Jorn Andersen hinted at a call-up that could lift his goal-shy side.
They showed a marked improvement from their last defeat by Malaysia, by the same margin 10 months earlier in Andersen’s first game in charge. That upturn came despite centre-back Helio Goncalves losing his passport and being unable to travel.
A number of chances were missed against opponents coached by former Hong Kong manager Kim Pan-gon. But while Hong Kong were mislaying one travel document, they were anticipating the arrival of another, as Andersen revealed he may soon have a new striker at his disposal.

“We created seven to nine chances, investing a lot, running a lot,” Andersen said. “But we struggled again with [those]. That’s our problem for a long time. We created 20 chances against Myanmar [0-0 at home last year]. It’s our big problem.”
