BC Rangers coach Johnny Poon Man-chun is hoping to win family bragging rights as well as the FA Cup when his side take on Kitchee this weekend.

Chasing the treble at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday, Premier League and Senior Shield champions Kitchee count Max Poon Pui-hin, Johnny Poon’s son, among their number.

But while the Bluebirds have largely dominated the game locally this season, they have come unstuck twice against Rangers in the group stages of the Sapling Cup.

When asked about the prospect of facing his 22-year-old son in the final, Johnny Poon said they did not talk about team-related stuff at home.

“I just told him to do his best should he has the chance to play,” the 46-year-old said. “Obviously, we both want to win, so let us both just do our best. Football is like this, there will be nothing dramatic [at home].”

While they lost twice to Rangers in the cup competition, Kitchee won both league encounters and Alex Chu Chi-kwong said he was not too concerned by those defeats.
