Volleyball Nations League: China continue their winning streak in Hong Kong

Unbeaten China continued their winning streak at the women’s 2023 Volleyball Nations League with a comfortable victory over Bulgaria on Friday night, their second in Hong Kong and sixth in the pool stage since it began last month.
Hosts China were cheered on by a partisan crowd at the Coliseum in Hung Hom, as they rebounded from losing the first set to win 20-25, 25-7, 25-10, 25-15.
Outside hitter Li Yingying was solid at the net, scoring a team-high 18 points, while captain Yuan Xinyue was not far behind with 13 points.
Bulgaria, who had already lost to Canada and Italy in Hong Kong, suffered a third straight defeat this week.
China will be given a rigorous test on Saturday when they take on joint leaders Poland, before facing defending champions Italy on Sunday.
Earlier on Friday, Canada’s Brie King hailed Hong Kong’s efforts hosting the Volleyball Nations League and said the city reminded her of Vancouver in terms of the atmosphere.
