- ‘The pressure of doing well in Hangzhou now piles up, especially as there will be no Sarah Lee this time,’ women’s winner says

Cyclist Ng Pak-hang won his first Hong Kong road race championships on Sunday but his focus remained firmly on the track for the forthcoming Asian Games.
Ng was first to cross the line at Ting Ying Road in Tin Shui Wai, after a gruelling 120-kilometre race in scorching heat.
He edged teammate Mow Ching-yin by the narrowest of margins, with both recording identical times of two hours, 52 minutes and 19 seconds. Lo Chun-kit was two seconds behind, finishing third.
In the women’s race, youngster Ceci Lee Sze-wing proved herself as Hong Kong’s No 1 after beating veterans Yang Qianyu and Leung Po-yee in the 58km race. All three finished with identical times of 43 minutes and 37 seconds.

Six years ago when Hong Kong staged its first track cycling World Championships, Ng was in the crowd at the Tseung Kwan O Velodrome, and was inspired when the city’s team pursuit riders rubbed shoulders with the world’s best in front of a home crowd.
