After 14 medals in the past two days, Hong Kong showed no signs of slowing down as the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games rolled on, adding another seven on day 3.
On Tuesday night, swim star Siobhan Haughey won the 100 metres freestyle final in an Asian record of 52.17 – also a new personal best – to add a fourth medal to her personal collection in Hangzhou.
The city’s men’s rugby sevens team had earlier won gold in the evening, beating South Korea 14-7 in the final to retain their title.
It made for an historic rugby double, after Hong Kong’s women won an Asian Games medal for the first time, taking bronze in a nail-biter against Thailand.

Teenaged tennis star Coleman Wong Chak-lam also pulled off a stunning upset against China’s Wu Yibing in the third round of the men’s singles, in what is the biggest win of his career.
Two more medals came on Tuesday afternoon on the waters of Ningbo – Ngai Wai-yan took silver in the women’s windsurfing RS:X event, and sailing duo Russell Aylsworth and Akira Sakai won bronze in the men’s 49er skiff.
Then there were bronzes for the equestrian dressage team of Samantha Grace Chan, Annie Ho, and Jacqueline Siu, and for fencer Ho Wai-hang in the men’s individual epee.
Here’s how all the action unfolded.
