- Games in Gangwon to feature 1,900 athletes from 79 teams across seven sports from January 19 to February 1
- Aerin King says sister Audrey, who took part in 2020, ‘told me not to give myself too much pressure’, while Lucas Wong faces international peers for first time

Alpine skiers Lucas Wong Chi-hao and Aerin King both admitted to nerves but vowed to do their best for Hong Kong when the Winter Youth Olympic Games begin next week in South Korea’s northeastern province of Gangwon.
The Games are set to run from January 19 to February 1 and will feature 1,900 athletes from 79 nations and regions across seven sports.
Teenagers Wong and King will each take part in both the giant slalom and slalom events between January 23 and 25 at the High1 ski resort in Jeongseon.
“I am nervous but at the same time excited,” King said. “I know some of my friends will also be at the Games, so I look forward to seeing them.”

The 17-year-old’s elder sister Audrey was one of the four athletes representing Hong Kong when the city made its Games debut in 2020.
“I wanted to participate in tournaments as big and important as the Games too, but my sister told me not to give myself too much pressure, but just to do my best,” the younger King said.
