Paris Olympics: Siobhan Haughey eyes yet more improvement in final straight before Games
- Hong Kong swimmer maintains focus after triumphant Mare Nostrum Tour and reveals hopes for next stint of training as Paris approaches

Hong Kong’s Olympic hopeful Siobhan Haughey said she still had improvements to make in the final run-in to Paris, and was relishing a sustained training push to arrive at the Games in optimal shape.
Haughey has qualified to compete in multiple events in France, but her main targets will be to improve on the silver medals she won in her favoured 100 and 200 metres freestyle at the last Olympics in Tokyo three years ago.
Crowned 200m world champion this year, she made a serious statement at the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour in the past fortnight, winning the three-stop Mediterranean meet for a second year in a row and sweeping the board in her two signature events.
Now that is over, Haughey’s focus has shifted to the fine-tuning that will set her up for when she dives into the pool in Paris.

“I think I still have a few things to work on,” Haughey told swimming news website SwimSwam. “We still have about two months, so hopefully in the next few weeks I can really have a good training block before I head to Paris.”
