Two of Hong Kong’s debut Olympians, Cindy Cheung Sum-yuet and Lee Cheuk-yiu, on Sunday revealed the tracksuits to be sported by the city’s delegation when they head off to Paris next month.
Swimmer Cheung, 17, and badminton star Lee, 27, showed off the Fila tracksuits at Olympic Day, an event hosted by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) in West Kowloon Cultural District.
So far, Hong Kong is taking about 30 athletes to the Olympics in July, with the potential for more to be added, with qualifying competitions still taking place.
The Hong Kong delegation’s tracksuit is a French-themed ensemble that has blue, white and red stripes on the cuffs, representing the host nation’s national flag.
The Hong Kong flag sits on the chest above the Olympic rings.
“I like the design, especially because it’s inspired by France,” said Cheung, who has qualified to represent Hong Kong in the 200 metres backstroke. “I think it’s really comfortable, which I really like.”
