Ticket details have been revealed for the 2026 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, as the tournament prepares to celebrate half a century in existence.
Next year’s edition, to be held at Kai Tak Stadium from April 17 to 19, will mark 50 years since the event’s inception in 1976.
The first key date for ticket sales is October 1, when priority access will begin for registered members of local rugby clubs.
International ticket and travel packages will go on sale in early October through the tournament’s official overseas travel partners and co-sponsor Cathay Pacific.
General sales are to begin on November 12, preceded by an early-bird sale a day earlier.
The tournament will bring a first increase in admission prices since 2018. Three-day tickets will cost HK$2,250 for adults and HK$1,100 for children aged three to 12 – up from HK$1,950 and HK$950 this year. Under-threes gain free entry.

An 11 per cent discount will be offered during the 24-hour early-bird sale on November 11, to coincide with China’s Singles’ Day, billed as the world’s largest physical and online retail shopping day.
Hong Kong-based travel agency Klook has again been authorised for exclusive sale of single-day tickets from November 11.
Friday’s will cost HK$550 for adults and HK$300 for children, while those for the Saturday or Sunday will be HK$1,250 for adults and HK$625 for kids. This year’s cost HK$500 and HK$300 for Friday, and HK$1,200 and HK$600 for weekend days.
“We once again look forward to welcoming fans from around the world to our amazing city and to hosting a suitably impressive celebration,” Chris Brooke, chairman of Hong Kong China Rugby, said.
A 50th anniversary Sevens is the latest of many milestones for a storied Hong Kong institution.
In March this year, it made its debut at the city’s newly completed, state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium, almost filling its 47,000 capacity for the event over the three days of action.
The tournament’s biggest ever crowds were treated not only to the world’s leading men’s and women’s sevens players but also to music acts such as Kaiser Chiefs and “Freed From Desire” singer Gala.
It followed over four decades of the Sevens across the harbour at Hong Kong Stadium and was a far cry from the day-long inaugural Sevens in 1976, watched by 3,000 people at Hong Kong Football Club.
Next April’s tournament will be one of three World Championship events in the HSBC SVNS Series, comprising 12 teams apiece in the elite men’s and women’s sections.
In addition, the Melrose Claymores competition – for invited teams from Asia and included in the line-up for the past two years – will return, featuring three men’s and three women’s teams and ensuring the involvement of the host city’s sevens squads.

This year’s Sevens saw Argentina triumph in the elite men’s tournament for the first time, while New Zealand continued their dominance of the women’s event, winning it for a third year in a row. Hong Kong’s men and women each claimed silverware in their respective Claymores competitions.
It was all embellished by a new fan village and a fly-past on the final day by a Cathay A350 aircraft, a nod to the new stadium’s location on the site of the city’s former airport.
“Cathay has been supporting the Sevens ever since the first edition back in 1976,” said Edward Bell, the airline’s general manager for brand, insights and marketing communications. “Roll on a huge 50th anniversary party in 2026.”
