National Games: Ian Ho’s swimming gold, fencing bronze for Cheung – day 7, as it happened
Ian Ho beats Pan Zhanle in 50m freestyle while Cheung Ka-long comes third at Kai Tak Arena, after cycling gold for Ceci Lee and Chloe Leung

Sunday is traditionally considered a day of rest, although sport always has other ideas, and with the National Games being on, that philosophy went right out of the window.
After a medal-filled start to the weekend for Hong Kong’s athletes, there were hopes of more to come. Not least in the track cycling, where Ceci Lee Sze-wing and Chloe Leung Wing-yee delivered in the women’s Madison.
Earlier, Coleman Wong Chak-lam eased into the third round of the men’s singles tennis, having had little trouble dispatching Hubei’s Chen Ye.
Siobhan Haughey apparently only races over 50 metres for fun, and got a double dose of enjoyment in the semi-finals of the freestyle and breaststroke after breezing through the heats.
At Kai Tak Arena, fencers Cheung Ka-long and Ryan Choi Chun-yin were unable to deliver their hoped-for foil semi-final after Choi was knocked out a round earlier, though Cheung still claimed a medal.
And the city’s triathletes also finished on a podium, on Central Harbourfront for the mixed relay.
