Hong Kong’s Doo Hoi-kem misses out on second title on the trot after loss at Oman WTT event
Defeat for Doo and fellow Hongkonger Pedrey Ng to Chinese pair comes after her singles semi-finals loss the day before

Doo Hoi-kem was denied a second title in six days, after the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist and fellow Hongkonger Pedrey Ng Wing-lam were beaten 3-0 by Qin Yuxuan and Zong Geman in the WTT Contender Muscat women’s doubles final on Saturday.
The 29-year-old Doo enjoyed mixed doubles success last Sunday, combining with long-standing partner Wong Chun-ting for the WTT Star Contender Doha crown.
Doo transferred her good form to Oman, an early mixed-doubles exit alongside Wong notwithstanding.
She reached the singles semi-finals before losing 3-1 to No 4 seed He Zhuojia, but went one better alongside Ng in the women’s doubles draw.
On Friday, the Hong Kong pair impressively overcame No 1 seeds Shi Xunyao and Wang Xiaotong in their semi-final without dropping a game.
But another mainland pair in Qin and Zong, the No 2 seeds, proved a different prospect altogether, sweeping Doo and Ng aside in 26 minutes.
Doo and Ng squandered points for the opening game at 10-9 and 11-10, before their opponents capitalised on their second game point to take it 14-12.
