Jockey Club brings new equestrian experience to Hong Kong with Pony World
Club revitalises Penfold Park area at Sha Tin Racecourse with venue that combines education and entertainment

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has added a new element to its facilities at Sha Tin Racecourse, opening Pony World in the venue’s famed Penfold Park.
Already known as a site where some of the world’s best horses were schooled and trained during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, it has now been converted for their miniature cousins.
While Pony World will not open to the public until June 22, club officials held an opening ceremony on Friday, where they outlined what would be available at the “interactive equestrian experience that combines education and entertainment”.
In a statement, the club said that the public would be able to “tour the stables, take pictures with mini ponies, join interactive workshops and immerse themselves in hands-on learning at the activity zone”.
Children aged 3 to 14 can also enjoy pony rides, as long as they are taller than 3ft 2in (1 metre) and weigh less than 154lb (70kg).

“These close encounters aim to deepen the public’s understanding of horses and foster an interest in equestrian activities,” the statement said. “Pony World is expected to serve around 17,000 visitors a year.”
