Sage Northcutt almost had nerves ‘sliced off’ in brutal One Championship KO but is ‘super eager to come back’

Former UFC fighter “Super” Sage Northcutt has revealed the extent of his facial injuries six months after his brutal first-round beat down in his One Championship debut in May.
The American suffered eight facial fractures that required nine hours of surgery and the 23-year-old told MMA Fighting that he hasn’t been able to train since his train wreck at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Brazilian kick-boxer Cosmo Alexandre delivered the devastating blow to end Northcutt’s three-fight win streak at welterweight and lightweight. Alexandre is a veteran, who at 185 pounds, has enough power to knock out any challengers and it was unfortunate that Northcutt became the Brazilian seven-time world kick-boxing champion’s latest victim in the mismatch.
In his first interview since his loss, the Texan told MMA Fighting that the nerves in his face were “almost sliced up” as a consequence of the huge overhand right by the 37-year-old Brazilian, who knocked out Northcutt just 29 seconds into their bout.
The injuries were so serious that the young American needed 30 bone fragments removed.
