Denice Zamboanga will finally get her long-awaited shot at a ONE Championship belt at ONE Fight Night 25.

She was first promised a title shot in 2019 but that fell by the wayside after Angela Lee, the atomweight champion at the time, fell pregnant.

Zamboanga was instead entered into the atomweight Grand Prix and controversially eliminated by Seo Hee Ham, with the split decision win for the Korean dashing her title dreams once more.

On October 4, Zamboanga will face the returning Alyona Rassohyna at Lumpinee Stadium, with the winner crowned interim atomweight champion, following an injury to title holder Stamp Fairtex, which has kept her sidelined indefinitely.

Zamboanga holds a record of 11-2 and has won her last three fights. She is looking to become the first female fighter from the Philippines to win a ONE Championship title.

While Zamboanga is on good form, her opponent is returning from a three-year absence. Rassohyna became the first fighter to beat Stamp in 2021, when the Thai fighter apparently got confused about timekeeping and tapped to a loose guillotine choke.
