Yuki Yoza already has his sights set on bantamweight kickboxing champion Jonathan Haggerty as he prepares for his ONE Championship debut at ONE Friday Fights 109 on May 23.
The former K1-champion’s highly anticipated bow sees him face Russia’s Elbrus Osmanov.
But, for Yoza, that is just the beginning.
“Within a year, I will take the belt from Haggerty,” Yoza told the Post. “That is the goal.
The 10-fight-win-streak phenom praised the British fighter as a technical champion who has adapted well to kickboxing.


“He’s strong and very good at adjusting, but I want to show I am better,” Yoza added.
Before thinking about Haggerty, however, Yoza must first get past Osmanov, who is unbeaten in six ONE appearances.
“Osmanov hasn’t faced anyone strong yet,” he said. “I must break his bones – or at least his fighting spirit – and show the level difference.”
The clash at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium will mark Yoza’s first time fighting outside Japan, an element he said will make the fight even more special.
“This is the stage I’ve been dreaming of,” he added. “Now I need to show who Yuki Yoza is.”
Despite the challenge ahead, Yoza is already planning future battles – and named the two potential opponents which excite him most: Superlek Kiatmuu9 and Nabil Anane.
“Superlek is still powerful, but Nabil is improving so fast,” Yoza continued. “If Nabil switches to kickboxing, I’m sure I can beat him. I want that fight.
“Superlek is a legend. It would be an honour to face him.”
A teammate of fellow ONE stars Takeru Segawa and interim featherweight kickboxing champion Masaaki Noiri at the Vasilius gym, Yoza said he drew inspiration from those around him, but that he considered himself the most intense.
“I’m the craziest in practice,” he said. “Every day is war.”
With elite training partners, a dream debut stage, and his sights set on gold, Yoza is entering ONE Championship with pure confidence and violent intent.
“Now is my time,” he added. “I will show everyone.”
