Jake Peacock could barely hide his excitement after learning he will face three-time Lumpinee Stadium world champion Suakim Sor.Jor.Tongprajin at ONE 173 in Tokyo.

“I’m absolutely thrilled,” Peacock told the Post. “Just for the opportunity to fight, I’d fight in my backyard if I had to, but to fight in Japan, even better.

“ONE 173 is absolutely stacked. I love Japan, I love to fight, so all things are going in the right direction,” he added.

Suakim arrives on a five-fight winning streak and brings a wealth of experience, with around 136 professional bouts on his record. The Thai star is renowned for his grit, ring IQ and ability to push forward even when hurt – qualities Peacock knows he must be ready for.

“He’s really gritty, he’s tough, he comes forward, especially when he’s hurt,” Peacock said. “But I’m too dynamic. I can fight on the inside, I can fight on the outside, I’ve got heart, I’ve got mentality, and I’m going to bring it all on November 16.”

For Peacock, 32, the Suakim fight is a chance to prove himself against his most formidable adversary yet and move closer to the division’s elite.
