Superbon Singha Mawynn’s stunning head kick KO victory on Saturday morning was sweet relief for him, after surrendering ONE Championship’s featherweight kickboxing belt in January.

His vicious finish of Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11 in Bangkok netted him not just a sliver of personal redemption, but a US$50,000 performance – as well as a title shot.

“One hundred per cent, I’ve already decided Superbon will face the winner of Chingiz Allazov and Marat Grigorian,” ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong told the Post after the event.

Allazov – who dethroned the 32-year-old Thai in brutal fashion – will make the first defence of his title against Grigorian in August, at the same venue.

“Of course I’m gonna come down to watch closely,” Superbon told the Post in his post-fight interview. “If they allow me to come.”

Superbon racked up his second head kick KO in ONE – and it was the second time he had seen an opponent leave on stretcher, after dishing out the same treatment to Giorgio Petrosyan.

In the Italian-Armenian’s case, he still has “anxiety” and nightmares” stemming from the knockout, according to Chatri, and Ozcan was taken to hospital later on Saturday morning for checks.
