Joe Rogan has weighed in on Jorge Masvidal’s sensational five-second, flying knee KO of Ben Askren at UFC 239 in Las Vegas last weekend.

The UFC commentator was front and centre for the historic knockout – the fastest in UFC history – and shared some of his thoughts on the latest episode of his podcast.

“That move was so brilliant because Askren always grabs your legs and if you get that close to him, he thinks almost like he has to grab you, it’s his instinct,” Rogan said on The Joe Rogan Experience.

“His head was up and one leg was up, I mean he was stiff, that was rough. That was an absolutely ruthless KO. It’s the fastest ever UFC KO in five seconds but really he was out cold at two [seconds]. It took maybe three, whatever it took for him [the referee] to run over there, it was like ‘one, one thousand, two – it’s over’.”

There was some criticism of Masvidal for landing two extra shots to the head when Askren was already clearly knocked out, as the referee scrambled over to intervene. But Rogan agreed that’s just Masvidal’s job.

“Well especially when there’s a heated contest like that when you talk so much s*** – he insulted Masvidal’s manhood, he insulted his ethnicity, he said a lot of s*** that p***** Masvidal off,” Rogan said.
