UFC 242: Dana White says Conor McGregor rematch ‘makes sense’ if Tony Ferguson doesn’t want Khabib
- UFC president reiterates Tony Ferguson will be offered next shot at the lightweight title
- ‘Conor wants that fight really badly and I’m sure a lot of fans would want to watch it’

Dana White has reiterated that Tony Ferguson will get the next title shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov – but said a Conor McGregor rematch “would make sense” if Ferguson does not take the fight.
Khabib submitted Dustin Poirier with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their title unification fight at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi.
The Dagestan-born Russian improved his record to 28-0, with a 12-0 record in the UFC – but Ferguson also owns a 12-fight win streak.
“Yeah, he’s next, Tony Ferguson is next in line for the fight, if he accepts the fight,” UFC president White said at the post-event press conference. “We’ll see how this thing plays out, when Khabib fights again and when Tony wants to fight.”

Khabib said in the Octagon he wanted to rest up before talking about his next fight.
