The consensus seems to be that Tony Ferguson deserves the next lightweight title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov. But unsurprisingly, Conor McGregor has tried to put his name in the picture.

It did not take long for “The Notorious” to pipe up on Twitter after Khabib submitted former interim champion Dustin Poirier in the third round at UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday night.

“Book my rematch for Moscow,” the Irishman wrote in a tweet which picked up nearly 150,000 likes in nine hours.

Indeed, UFC president Dana White had said at the UFC 242 post-event press conference that a McGregor rematch “makes sense” if Ferguson does not want to take the fight.

Former featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor’s words seemed to be a nod to Khabib expressing a desire to fight in the Russian capital.

“I wanna come back here, maybe next year, why not,” the Dagestan-born Russian said at The Arena on Yas Island in the United Arab Emirates.
